Brain and Behavior

The Human Brain

When I think of the human brain I think of a very complex organ and think of how it would have developed into what it has today from birth and how everyone's brain is different and why?

Understanding the Brain

Before talking about the brain we must first understand how it works. Allan Jones the CEO of the Allen institute of Brain Science has done research on a few ways the brain works. He does this by mapping out the genes that are turned on in our brains and that can give us better understanding of what genes are on and how different things effect the brain. This could lead to a huge medical breakthrough as it could reveal better ways to make medicine and what affects these medications could have on the body. It also shows which RNA structures are being targeted when the brain does certain things and how the body reacts when that RNA is released from the brain.

With this new knowledge we can begin to explore further into brain mapping and the effects of everything from medication to trauma and begin to understand why some medications have the side effects they do and how to possibly improve these medications to make them safer with fewer risk and the effects they pose on the body. I think this should be further investigated as it could be life changing and a great breakthrough in science and medicine.

Consciousness

Consciousness is another interesting part of the brain, as it is unique to everyone one. I think this because of perception. Why does one person feel one way about something and someone else feel the opposite? I have always wondered why two people could be so different in similar situations. I feel this is a field that needs more study and it goes back to understanding the brain. As we develop more technology to study this I feel we will be able to better help everyone as it could lead to discoveries to more on how the brain works. This would benefit people in therapy and counseling because new techniques could be invented as more discoveries are found..

  1. This is a very nice looking blog, and it flows very well. It is well organized, concise, and very east to follow. It was very informative also. What I would of liked to see more of was the ways in which the study of the conscious, what the therapy for that could be. That intrigued me very much. Over all great blog.
